先日、昔からの友人の森田大剛君が遊びにきた。彼は今度素材を生かす料理の学校をやるという。サロン・ド☆ピンクという学校、なんと彼らしい名前。そんな彼とは時として感覚が合うことがある。

マークニューソンの飛べない飛行機

マーク・ニューソンがデザインした飛行機のカタログがある。Kelvin40と名付けられた、パリのカルティエ・ファウンデーションでの展示のために作られた、イメージの中の飛行機。この作品にはアートとデザインの中間としての評価が定着している。
Marc Newson has designed an airplane called "Kelvin40." This is not to fly, but to exhibit at Cartier foundation. The airplane is evaluated as a product between art and design.
戦争と戦闘機

8月になると戦争の番組が多く、僕も深夜にNHKなどで見ている。
子供の頃は戦闘機の名前をたくさん知っていた。よく模型を作っては自分の部屋にぶら下げていたものだ。日本のだと雷電や紫電改、アメリカのではボブキャットやヘルキャットなどがお気に入りだった。

国連大学の木

先日、国連大学の学長のハンス氏とその奥さんと、事務局長のフランソワーズ氏とお昼を食べた。アンツの松井君も一緒だった。国連大学の彼らとはもう６年ぐらい前、デザイナーズ・ブロックで国連大学を使わせてもらって以来の関係だ。

僕の手元にある30年間くらい前の本＝雑誌のようなカタログ。それはWhole Earth Catalogという本で、1960年代後半のイギリスやアメリカのヒッピー達はみんなこれを読んでいた。
スティーブ・ジョブズが2005年に行ったスタンフォード大学での講演でも述べられているように、これは当時としては画期的な出版物であったばかりでなく、現在のエコ的な考えやサステナブル・デザインの基本思想にもなっていた。

This epoch-making catalog is called "WHOLE EARTH CATALOG." As Steve Jobs said on a speech at Stanford University, this catalog was edited by the point of view of how to live right and this is the point that attracted me.

1976年、デザイナーくずれのヒッピーの友人エイドリアンは、エジソンの鑞管蓄音機を僕に届けるため、ロンドンのポートベロー・マーケットから、羽田空港に来てくれた。
In 1976 , my old friend Mr Adrian Romano brought a wax silinder gramophone which Thomas Edison invented and manufactured .He was a typical London free person like hippies.And he dealt with antiques at portbello Rd in London.
スクーリングのすすめ
先日スクーリング・パッドの４期目が終わった。3ヶ月で1期、その後の3ヶ月でツアーやイベントを行い、約半年で一周する。
つまり半年で1学期となる。そして卒業になるのだが、永遠に腐れ縁で、興味と好奇心と考える面白さを求める心があったらいくらでも関係は続いていく。卒業だから終わりということはない。

公園のホームレス

毎朝通る公園にはかつて250人のホームレスが暮らしていた。現在はブルーテントが25軒、その他野外キャンプが30軒ほどあるだけだ。雨なのでこのおじさんは傘をさしながらベンチで寝ている。ちなみに世界中には３億人ぐらいがこうして暮らしているらしい。
There used be 250 homeless lived in this park, but now only 30 are still there.This old man is sleeping with his umbrella opened. By the way, about three hundred million homeless are living like this in the world.
アジアカップを見て考える

イラクがサッカーのアジアカップで優勝した。イラクといえば戦火の中だ。そんな状況でもどうにか、バクダットからインドネシアやベトナムまで選手を送った。お金を殆どかけられず、チームとしての練習もあまりできなかったが、彼らは優勝した。
Asian soccer situation
I watched the TV game of Asian soccer championship.Iraqu won Saudiarabia 1-0 .They have just come to play the game .And won ,they did not complain but just did it. I was moved how they played the soccer.
事実をどう捉えて情報化するか

最近、若い人と話していると思うのだが、彼らはやたらと情報を分類することに長けている気がする。多分現在はたくさんの情報がありすぎて、早く処理しないとそこに埋まってしまうからだろう。
例えば、子供が泣いているという現象があるとする。これを「ああ、可哀想だな。でも自分には関係ない」とすぐに通り過ぎてしまう。忙しいからいちいち関わっていられないと、それで終わりにしてしまう。
How to understand the situation right.
There are no good news and there are no bad news, there is only a fact.You can watch it ,you can understand why and what is happening.
If a child is crying, they say it is a sad thing. but if you look into the reason ,it can be a good thing.
